If your motor is simply dead, be sure to check for power at the pump receptacle. If you find power at the spa pump receptacle, the motor is in need of repair. If you find no power at the receptacle, there is an issue with your control system.

How Can I Know What Frame Size My Motor Is?

The diameter of the spa motor will dictate the frame size. To determine whether your motor is a 48 or a 56 frame spa motor, measure across the back of the motor. A measurement of 5.5 inches indicates a 48 frame spa motor. A measurement of 6.5 inches indicates a 56 frame spa motor. (link to Frame Size Graphic Page)

How Can I Tell What Size Plumbing I Have?

Nearly all spas built during the 1980's and the 1990's used 1.5 inch plumbing. As technology improved and performance became a priority, most manufacturers moved to 2 inch plumbing. By measuring the diameter of the plumbing coming into your pump, you can tell what size it is. If by measuring the diameter of the pipe you find a measurement of less than 6 inches, then you have 1.5 inch pipe. If you measure more than 7 inches, you have 2 inch plumbing. It will be important to measure both the intake plumbing size and the discharge plumbing size.
